“RESIDENTS in north Leeds are being urged to join a renewed fight to save a community green space.
MP for Leeds North West, Greg Mulholland, will write to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government to ask him to call in a decision on the future of the Victoria Road playing field, and is urging locals to do the same.
…Mr Mullholland said: “The battle is not yet over, and hopefully the Secretary of State will overturn the recent decision and help us take this opportunity to save the much-needed playing field for future generations.”
Local resident and campaigner Sue Buckle said: “We certainly aren’t accepting what has happened without a fight because it is so totally wrong.
“The area is short of sports facilities and with this and the Royal Park School situation we feel like the community isn’t being heard.
“It’s Hyde Park’s last chance for the five local schools and the community to get the sports facilities and green space they need.”
